Thanks for sharing your experience! Any advice on costs? It seems the treatments will cost a hefty sum, and may not be covered by insurance. Not to mention the traveling costs.

Thank you for writing this book. We gained understanding of the basics of the immune system (which we've since studied further), your experiences interacting w/ doctors, viewing scans yourself, etc. Amazed at what you went through.

My wife is an LMS patient, following hyst last yr, had recurrence in abdomen. After chemos found ineffective, now planning on IGRT. Don't know at this point if surg will follow. We'll be finding out a lot next week w/ all this.

I read your tremendous and I'm inspired by what your determination and will to live was able to accomplish. It really gave me hope that I too can achieve NED.

My story is that I was diagnosed with low grade unclassified spindle cell sarcoma. I was told this cancer has a 95% cure rate and I'd be fine as it was superficial and we got clean margins. That was back in 2014. As of last Monday I'm being told I have 6 nodules in my lungs with the largest being 2.6 cm. I had a recurrence last year and did surgery and radiation.

Q: which brands of Omega-3/fish oil do you recommend?

A: Carlson or Nordic Naturals are brands I've used. I recommend the liquid fish oils, as the fish oil in pills are often less fresh (try opening the pill and you can smell the difference). For theraputic doses, I recommend Carlson's Medomega, which is a high concentration liquid fish oil. Take the fish oil with food, or immediately after a meal, for ease of digestion.

Hi, thanks for your very detailed and personal account. Your courage and determination are inspiring. We are dealing with a large retroperitoneal liposarcoma, difficult to remove surgically – it can be done, but would involve radical surgery that is difficult to contemplate witbhout first seeking all other options. My question is, is cryoablation done for large tumours? And with what results? I'm unsure to what extent it is being done at all here in Australia, but it would be helpful to know if it is being done elsewhere on large tumours.

Hi Rene and Edward.. I read your book with great interest . Your journey was and is inspiring. My 18 year old daughter was diagnosed with synoval sarcoma (primary in scapular area under the supraspinatus muscle) and bilateral lung metastasis ( largest is 9mm). Her oncologist quickly had her start chemo doxoifos) and she has completed 2 cycles of 5. The team will then decide on radiation before surgery or surgery then radiation. All aspects of your jpourney were very educational. I was especially interested by the omega 3 diet.

Hi,

again thanks for a great book and apologies for sending you so many questions. I have two questions that I hope you can help with:

1. Can IL-2 be a good substitute for Coley's toxin?
As I am sure you are aware, there is quite a bit of research on the use of IL-2 in immunotherapy. A recent article from a group at MIT also included IL-2 (a long half life version) in an immunotherapy cocktail that was tested preclinically (with very promising results). Here is their paper:

Hi Rene and Edward,

Thank you for sharing the amazing book with many valuable information. My mother has stage 4 lung cancer adenocarcinoma bony metastases with EGFR + . She was put on iressa for almost 5 months and has done 3 cycles of chemotherapy alimta + carbon + avastin. Her current doctor suggested to have 4 cycles of chemo and alimta maintenance.
