Can fish oil induce chemoresistance?

Dear Rene and Edward,

I am reading about fish oil and I came across this study that got some publicity last year:

Increased Plasma Levels of Chemoresistance-Inducing Fatty Acid 16:4(n-3) After Consumption of Fish and Fish Oil
http://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamaoncology/article-abstract/2212208

Can I ask what your thoughts are on this? My wife is currently taking a targeted therapy (osimertinib) and she is also taking fish oil supplements. However, after reading your book, we are considering increasing the dose of fish oil significantly. I should mention she is currently also on immunotherapy.

Best,

Lars

High omega 3 has an anti

High omega 3 has an anti-inflammatory component, so we do not recommend doing the high omega 3, low omega 6 regimen when on active immunotherapies that require acute inflammation. In Chp 15, I started the high omega 3, low omega 6 regimen when we decided to stop all immunotherapies. While on immunotherapies, a suggestion is to lower the omega 6 in the diet as much as possible, then increase the omega 3's when not on active immunotherapies.
