Fish oil and vitamin E

Hi,

my wife is taking fish oil and then someone told us that there is vitamin E in most fish oil that one can buy. Can I ask what your thoughts on this are? Some say that cancer patients should stay away from vitamin E.

Best,

Thank you. So you are basically not worried about vitamin E at all? The reason we were a bit uncomfortable was this study:

Thanks for bringing the

Thanks for bringing the article to our attention. The article seems to suggest Vit E prevents p53 from working. p53 is needed for damaged cells to apoptose + die. So without p53 working, tumor cells can grow.

Omega 3s (EPA + DHA) can kill tumors through a functional p53 pathway. There's also research showing DHA specifically can kill tumor cells without functioning p53:

http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/01635580701328362

So theoretically, even if the Vit E in fish oil prevents p53 from functioning, DHA could kill those tumor cells.

If one wants to take omega 3 without Vit E, a possibility could be to take DHA alone (from algae oil, which does not contain Vit E).

Thanks!

Thanks for this.

Would there also be a way to take EPA without vitamin E?

I don't know of a way to take EPA apart from fish oil. I don't know if Vit E is a natural or added component in fish oil - could check other brands of fish oil to see if they don't contain Vit E.

Cyberknife

Hi just hoping to get your thoughts on cyberknife for lung mets? Also would this procedure create T Cells?
If lung mets are to occur down the road we would prefer to do cryoablation however it looks very likely that it wouldnt be available at this stage in Australia.
Our plan would be to avoid surgery and do some other procedure like cyberknite or other minimally invasive treatment followed by Immunotherapy - Opdivo off label. Can you please give yor thoughts on this.
Many thanks for your time.
