I'm confused about fish oil & inflammation. I think fish oil suppress inflammation...but is that good if we're trying to get our immune systems working against cancer? Is inflammation the beginning of an immune response & therefore something possibly beneficial?
There is a fine balance between acute versus chronic inflammation, and a stark difference between the two, which we explain in Chapter 15, section "Inflammation, the Fuel of Tumors" (paperback pg 245). When one is undergoing therapies that utilize acute inflammation, it may be a good idea to hold off on fish oil. Note in Chapter 15 when I started fish oil, I had signs of chronic inflammation, and my tumors were growing even with immunotherapy.
Thanks for that explanation. We'll hold off on the oil for now
