Interferon Gamma assay

Hi Renee,

In your book you mentioned that you did a Interferon gamma assay as advised by Dr Old. What exactly was inferred from that ? Are there any references which can give us some more information regarding interpretation of the same in the context of immunotherapy ?

A few pages after we recount

A few pages after we recount going for the interferon gamma blood test, we recount Dr. Old’s response to my high interferon levels (Chapter 10, section “The smell of victory (June 30 MRI)”).

We do not have references for interferon gamma, it was a blood test that Dr. Old recommended we get to characterize my Coley’s fever response.

Interferon Gamma Assay

Thanks,

The reason I asked was that the IFN-gamma test is mostly used to determine Tuberculosis latency. If you have read Dr Old was one of the pioneers in BCG based immunotherapy (attenuated live Tuberculosis bacteria) for bladder carcinoma. What I wasn’t clear is it’s correlation with the immune response by Coleys fluid (which is dead streptococcal bacteria)?

Did you take the IFN blood sample after the fever maxed or before ? How many hours after the injections?
